DOB Offers LAA Renewals with Same BIS Number
Effective June 1, the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) now offers Limited Alteration Application (LAA) renewals with the same BIS number. This change includes the following benefits:
- BIS number remains the same
- Multiple LAA renewals are allowed, if needed
- Decreases number of related open filings that require sign-off by licensee of record
To take advantage of the change, the renewal applications must meet the following requirements:
- No change to applicant or proposed work summary
- Applicant insurance must be current and active
- Application must be manually filed, with a B-SCAN sticker attached
Philadelphia Extends Accelerated Reviews to 10 Business Days
As of June 1, accelerated reviews in Philadelphia now take 10 business days until further notice.
The following application types are not eligible for accelerated review:
- Prerequisites. Applications without all required prerequisite approvals and documents
- Amended Building Permit Applications. Amended permit applications will be assigned to the plans examiner who reviewed the initial application
- Certificate of Occupancy Applications. Applications for Certificates of Occupancy only
- Preliminary Plan Reviews. Preliminary plan review requests for all disciplines
- Use Registration Permits. Change of use in existing structures/properties
- Plumbing Permits. Plumbing installations other than new construction
- Electrical Permits. Electrical installations without an executed contact indicating construction cost
No permit applications will be eligible for accelerated review where the construction has been found to be in violation for working without a permit.
