On Friday, June 15, 2018, Milrose hosted a Day of Philanthropy in celebration of the company’s 30th Anniversary Year of Philanthropy. The company-wide service day was dedicated to supporting two nonprofit organizations chosen by the Milrose Philanthropy Committee; Blessings in a Backpack and Together We Rise.

To kick off the day, Theresa Monforte of Blessings in a Backpack (BIB) spoke with Milrose employees about the important work her organization does to address the epidemic of child hunger in the United States. The Blessings in a Backpack program feeds over 87,300 children throughout the U.S. who don’t get the food they need. Milrose employees assisted the organization by assembling meal packages and providing food nourishment for 500 local children living in food insecure households.

During the second half of the day, Milrose employees split into ten teams to compete in a bike assembly service project for Together We Rise (TWR). TWR is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in the foster care system. TWR’s Build-A-Bike program provides bikes to foster care children to encourage healthy exercise and provide them with access to a new form of transportation. Employees teamed up to assemble a variety of youth bicycles and provided them to the children at to two local foster care agencies; Good Shepherd Services-New York and Forestdale, Inc.

Overall, Milrose’s 2018 Day of Philanthropy was a tremendous success. Employees brought positive attitudes and truly embraced the meaning of philanthropy. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for employees to bring action to their good intentions and make a difference in the lives of others in our community.
