Why Watch?

With Local Law 126 officially in place, owners of parking structures are now required to have their structures inspected every six years and submit a report with the inspection results to the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB).

The DOB has recently mandated that all parking structures in sub-cycles 1B & 1C complete a one-time initial observation by August 1, 2024. These observations must be conducted by a Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI), and the corresponding form must be filed with the DOB by the deadline.

Learn the details of this law from Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI), Bryan Chester, Associate Director, Structural Engineering at HLZAE.
